Two brothers meet just before boarding an international flight .
One pulls out a tomato…
the first fruit of their dad’s tomato crop…
a crop that was loved and tended to religiously.
The call came in the middle of the night…
with a message that
their beloved Father suffered a stroke in the middle of the Mediterranean.
Things were not looking good.
No doctor could help him in time.
The father lie in an Italian hospital bed…
unconsciously awaiting his sons’ final goodbyes…
” I think Dad would like it if we shared his first harvest with each other before getting on the plane.”
The younger brother agreed…
cutting it in half…
seeds revealed…
tears swelling within…
they ate what would be the last tomato their father would grow…
…but oh those sweet seeds
the seeds planted within their own hearts by their dad for so many years of their lives.
Those seeds will last their lifetime…
and will be harvested by many generations to come!
I knew instantly…
the tomato needed to be painted for this precious family…
You know…
when learning to paint in 3D…
it really helps to not focus so much on the object itself…
but to look at where its darkness hides.
Capturing where the light shines on the subject
is when it truly starts to breathe life.
In this case…
the light hitting this object is in the shape of a heart…
to always remind them of the Father’s love…
to remind them that Jesus was our Father’s first fruit…
to remind them He came in human form (3D)
to help us unveil where the light and dark places are in this world.
He shows us how to
BE LOVE.
He planted seeds of hope wherever he went.
Accepted by some.
Rejected by many.
I pray the Father’s Love shines through us all in the shape of a heart
as a first fruit for anyone who crosses our paths today.
Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Psalms 34:8
Whelp, you’ve done it again—spoke right deep into my heart. I resonate to this story so much as I see my father passing slowly via his terminal cancer. I have taken refuge in God who is the peace-giver and the keeper of my tears. His love brings life—even to those who are losing life on earth. xo~ Mwah! D
